1. The Order to Disband
|

By November 1991, Nichiren
Shoshu issued a document entitled the Remonstrance to
the Soka Gakkai to Disband (Dai-Nichiren, Special Edition,
III). The Soka Gakkai rejected this request and three
weeks later Nichiren Shoshu issued another document excommunicating
the Soka Gakkai. In this rather lengthy document, Notification
of the Excommunication of the Soka Gakkai from Nichiren
Shoshu, Nichiren Shoshu did not quote a single passage
from Nichiren Daishonin's writings or provide any doctrinal
basis for these actions (Dai-Nichiren, Special Edition,
III). In fact, the document of excommunication simply
repeated the assertion that Nichiren Shoshu must excommunicate
the Soka Gakkai because it failed to follow the priesthood.
