  4. Sept. 2005: Masatomo Yamazaki Apologizes Defeated in an unscrupulous libel incident
Convicted embezzler and former lawyer for the Soka Gakkai, Masatomo Yamazaki has made an “official apology” as a result of losing a lawsuit for libel.

On September 9th, a hearing was held regarding a libel and invasion of privacy lawsuit filed by a former Komeito municipal assemblyman as a result of groundless content found in a book published by Yamazaki. The following mutual settlement was decided before Osaka district court, which ruled on the case:

1) Yamazaki will apologize to the former municipal assemblyman; 2) Yamazaki will not quote the former assemblyman’s name of in any of his writings, and 3) Yamazaki will pay 100,000 yen.

In the book that Yamazaki published in 2001, Yamazaki quoted this former municipal assemblyman’s name in a vicious article defaming his character. In it, he described this assemblyman as though he had used his influence to receive money when employing staff at the municipal office.
Yamazaki admitted to the mistakes he had made and made an official apology, including the fact that he had mentioned the actual name of the former assemblyman.

Yamazaki was also convicted two days in a row in another lawsuit court case held in September 2004 by the Tokyo Higher Court regarding the same book. He also made another “official apology” in November 2004 to another former Komeito municipal assemblyman in a mutual settlement made before the court.

In addition to this, Yamazaki was convicted in a lawsuit filed against him by a woman with whom he had past love affairs. He was ordered to pay 3 million yen for consolation. He has been strictly condemned in court for his continuous illegal acts.
